Mount Peel sits at the South Western “corner” of Toowoomba, alongside the beginning of the Gore Highway which leads to Pittsworth and beyond. Lesser known than some of the other high points of the area it commands some great views in almost all directions from two summits; the South and the North Summit both stand at “about 710m”. The main view above is from the North Summit looking to the North and across the City of Toowoomba at the right hand side.

The whole Mount Peel Bushland Reserve covers over 120Ha and has several defined walking trails as well as Mountain Bike trails that intersect. Our route took us through the centre and then up the Southern Summit, accidentally via the hardest climb rated as a grade 4. However, we made it to the top and these images reflect the walk to here and the views.

From the South Summit we descended via the better track although very slippery with loose blue metal. Returning ti the central trail we then took the “Wombat Berry Walk” to the North Summit then returning to the car via the “Ironbark Circuit”
