Litchfield is undoubtedly the best known of the NT National Parks (Kakadu is a Commonwealth National Park) and has a concentrated collection of waterfalls and walks in a relatively small area.

We were going to delay our visit as it had been reported as so busy campers were queuing for spots early in the day; however, Darwin had a 5 day Covid lockdown while we were still at Lucys Rest and when the lockdown lifted we headed for Litchfield to take our chance on people leaving who had been waiting to get into Darwin; as it happens we were right and secured a large site in the Florence Falls Campground.

The attractions of Litchfield are all in the same sector of the Park as this map shows, the places and walks we did while here are all indicated here.

The Florence Falls Campgrounds are downstream from the Buley Rockhole, joined by a walking path as well as a circular walk around the opposite bank. Buley is an extremely popular swimming hole with tourists and locals alike, as our stay coincided with school holidays the numbers were at their peak!
