Julia Creek

Just over seven years ago we first visited this free camp on the outskirts of Julia Creek. Not much has changed, being well past the “season” there is no onsite camp host and the visitor centre is closed so it’s all help yourself as usually registration is required for a maximum 4 day stay with grey water to be retained. We stayed the maximum in the end, Frances visiting the local medical centre while we were here.

As always the place teems with birdlife although this time we had no Brolgas and no budgerigars. The creek is a little low with next to no flow at present with the area not getting much of the recent rains. There seems to be a single Duck who is obviously very used to doing the rounds for snacks!
