From Leyburn we drove across to the New England Highway and down the Gatton-Clifton Road.  Tis is a relatively easy range crossing without the steepness of the Toowoomba Range climb but does have some narrow parts in the top section.  Halfway down is the Rest Area at Heifer Creek (Crossing No.3 in fact) which has toilets and a good reasonably flat area below along the creek bank.
