Having booked in at Bowen to finally get our fridge warranty repair done on February 2nd we headed off to take a 3 week break up the coast and back. First stop for overnight was at the free RV stop in the village of Bauple which we last visited in 2014 (pic at left).

Then to the Boyne River Tourist Park for a week to look around the City of Gladstone, a location we hadn’t yet explored.

The Boyne River Tourist Park sits along the riverbank on the North side of the Boyne bridge and was once a work camp for the building of the bridge. A park with some permanent residential cabins it caters for small numbers of tourists with every camper being allocated a private bathroom at a block in the centre of the open grassed area.

The City of Gladstone is widely known as the home of the Alumina Refinery and the Boyne Smelter, as well as a major Coal exporting harbour, these can be seen in this collection of views from the two lookouts in the City area
