Moved along again through Charters Towers (planning to stop here on another trip) and on to another free camp at the Campaspe River (sand bed!) crossing (120km), A smaller but much better maintained facility than Macrossan and very popular, The site is sandwiched between the Highway and the Railway so not recommended if you don’t like a bit of train noise!
September 25
Decided today to take a short hop (52km) and fit in another free camp night before getting to Hughenden. The Rest Area at Pentland West is shared with trucks (read Road Trains) but has plenty of space and there were three vans there overnight.
