"NO MORTGAGE, NO MOWING" - The Grey Nomad Journeys of Keith and Frances ThompsonBullita Homestead
September 24, 2021
Bullita Homestead has been preserved by Parks and Wildlife with almost all the buildings in place and even saddles and tack still hanging in the shed. It’s hard to believe nobody has lived in this place since 1981. Some information signs have been provided in the house with a brief history of the place. As Brian Hill had told me back at Manbulloo, it was a hard place to run cattle as none of it had ever been cleared and the only way to effectively muster was using helicopters, never a cheap exercise. Today the cattle yards stand as they were left and in the surrounding country there are 3 more sets of yards along the various trails.
At the end of the image gallery you will see us enjoying a cup of coffee on the back veranda; Parks kindly provide a single burner gas ring and a billy with tea and coffee for visitors to sit and take in the atmosphere.
