The village of Benarkin (population 61) is only 4km from Blackbutt and grew around the first railway station for Blackbutt; fittingly the free campground is adjacent to the station and the Rail Trail which we walked to Blackbutt and return (about 10km along the route of the old railway)
The village today still has a general store and a primary school.
