Nov 19-30

The journey from Airlie Beach was a mix of fairly long days and a few short ones with single overnight stops and a couple of longer stays, all of them at Rest Areas or other Free Camps, some we have used before, some were new to us.

Nov 19: Airlie Beach to Waverley Creek Rest Area; 340km today but progresses the journey well taking us South of Mackay and heading for Rockhampton.  Good well set up Rest Area catering for RVs with a separate Truck Bay and near new Toilet block.

Nov 20-22: Another 276km day to Calliope River Campground, West of Gladstone.  We have stayed here before and while a 48 hour official limit is more flexible off season.  There are approved areas both sides of the River again after the Southern side toilet block was replaced (washed away in the 2012 floods), this time on higher ground. We opted for the North side with a view over the river.

Nov 23-26: Short day today of only 42km to a small camping area at Futter Creek, South of Calliope on the Gladstone-Monto Road.  Only 1 van here when we arrived and up to 5 of us one night.  A fairly quiet spot with only a few passing loggng trucks during the week but we were here over the weekend and not much traffic at all.

Mov 27-30: Four days of one night stops; first up a 175km run to Gin Gin where we topped up on water, groceries and fuel.  Next day a 195km drive to the Chatsworth Rest Area just North of Gympie; we have stayed here twice before, it has a few reverse in bays for caravans and we were early enough (lunch time) to get one.

Kilcoy 20 Hour Stop004 -2.51 PM29-Nov-17

Wednesday a much shorter drive (in the rain) to Kilcoy and as the main RV Stop was crowded and wet we went to a newer area close by which is just a grassed strip alongsde a reserve with no amenities but nice and level and not muddy!

Finally a short run of 100km to the Ipswich Showrounds.
